A few posts back we made an article about Blogger Custom Redirects in which you can redirect within your blog. That is you can redirect your specific post URL to another post or page, all 301 or302 Redirection within your blog.

That will be useful for redirecting 404 error pages and Broken Links; however with that you cannot redirect homepage to any particular URL.

Here we will show you how to automatically redirect Blogger blog to another blog or website or any URL. So with this technique you can redirect your Blogger Homepage or any particular page to external websites.

The redirect could be very important for a different purpose. We may need to redirect blogger to new address several. But still now many bloggers don't know how to redirect blogger blog. We should learn it because whenever you will think about to change your existing web address to a new one, you must set a redirection.

Here I will share three different codes that automatically redirect Blogger blog to another blog or URL and each code does different tasks.

Let’s say you want to redirect your complete Blogger blog to another page or URL. That is redirecting your homepage, posts page, archives page and all other URL in your blog to another specified external website. You have to use this if you just moved to new domain. To do this you are going to make changes to your template file.

So before you mess up with the codes it’s recommended that you BackUp Your Template first.

1. Login to your Blogger dashboard.

2. Go to template and click Edit HTML.

3. Now you can see template codes. Press (CTRL + F) and then find <head>. Just add the following piece of code below <head> tag.

  location.href = 'http://yoursite.com';
</script>

Remember:- Replace the URL "http://yoursite.com" with your own website or blog URL.

4. See the below image to clarify the steps.

Note:- In the above code change http://yoursite.com which is the destination URL. Now all your pages from the blog will be redirected to destination URL.

Redirecting A Specific URL To An External Website

If you are intending to redirect a specific page to an external website rather than the above-mentioned code is not for you; however follow the same steps as of the above method but use the following code and paste it just below <head> tag.

window.location="http://yoursite.com";

</script>

Replace the Page URL with the URL of the page, which you want to redirect and replace the URL http://yoursite.com with the destination URL where you wish the page to be redirected.

Time Based Redirection

You might have seen pages redirecting to the main source of information after few seconds, this technique is mostly used in promotional activities. However, if you are looking forward to do something of that sort use the following code. Also follow the same steps for this method and paste this code just below <head> tag.

<meta content='5;url= http://yoursite.com ' http-equiv='refresh'/>

Replace the URL http://yoursite.com with yours own. If you wish to increase or decrease the time of transition, you can do it by changing 5 which is 5 seconds actually. Moreover, this code will redirect your whole blog to the external destination.
